Gerry King has exhibited contemporary glass since undertaking a Masters’ Degree in the US during the early 1970’s. His work is frequently exhibited, collected and published internationally. It is represented in twenty permanent public permanent collections in Australia, New Zealand, US, Japan, Spain, Portugal and Denmark. Public, corporate and private commissions have been completed in Australia, US and Singapore. In 2006 a retrospective exhibition was shown at ARTSingapore.
Originally trained as a glassblower he now also works with kiln forming, casting and cold working. One of the first Australians working in contemporary glass he previously exhibited ceramics. In 1993 he graduated, Doctor of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong.
Until 1996 he was Coordinator of Glass Studies and subsequently Head of The School of Design at the University of SA. Periodically engaged as a consultant, author and designer he regularly teaches at The Glass Furnace in Turkey.
