I am 21 year old independent jewellery designer from the Midlands area. I have always been into design and always known that I have wanted to go into the design field. Even from a young age, I was designing shoes ! I studied Art and Design, where I did Photography, Fashion and Textile Design, Ceramics and Glass, and many other fields of design, allowing me to keep my options open and explore the different areas of design. I originally specialised in Interior Design and had my heart set on being an Interior Designer. However, after incorporating metal work into my designs, I found that I really enjoyed the manipulation of metal and including other materials when working with it. I soon started creating jewellery and experimenting with techniques.

I create unique, bespoke hand sculpted and woven jewellery using sterling silver and gold. The jewellery has a very feminine, fresh and romantic style to it and the designs portray an emphasis on texture. Inspiration is taken from the sculptural and architectural features and forms of nature. Various gemstones are used to add splashes of colour. Metals such as sterling silver, 9ct & 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold and platinum are used and the carefully sourced precious and semi- precious gemstones are carefully selected from various areas of the world.

After approaching The Prince’s Trust at the end of last year, I received help and advice which led on to registering and starting the business in February 2006. I started by selling the jewellery in galleries around the UK. I then started working with London based fashion designers, creating jewellery for their new collections and photo shoots. Shortly after, I created a necklace for Camilla Parker Bowles, in which I was invited to the Palace and given a tour around….this was amazing ! To my surprise, the Duchess wore the necklace on live television and pictures were shown in magazines such as Hello ! And OK magazine. Since that, the PR and attention with I received was fantastic. After approximately 7 months in business, I started selling internationally and found my first gallery in the Netherlands. I have also recently had interest from retailers in the United States. I have featured in Canada’s most popular magazine, HILARY and I am soon to be featured in Genlux magazine, after receiving contact from their office in Beverly Hills.

I was recently commissioned to design and create a jewellery set for the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Organisation. I designed and created the set so that it can go into a London auction to raise money for the charity. I have also taken part in a similar project, but for CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland)

I took part in London Fashion Week, September 2006 and really enjoyed the whole experience.

I have recently reached the finals for ‘Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award’. Now, working alongside fashion designers and working independently, I am able to take part in exciting projects and develop new designs.
